The closest I come most days is if my kids need a little help with homework. For a lot of us, after we leave college and outgrow any inner aspiring artist we might have had, pencils kind of fall by the way side in favor of cell phones and promotional pens.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere’s no shame in that, for sure. But when my oldest child started using regular old #2 pencils for schoolwork and they started getting left around the house, I began picking them up and using them more and more often. And I began to realize that there’s something sweetly nostalgic about using real pencils – I feel less like a stiff grownup, and more like I’m working away on some important project. Except now, it’s not school – it’s life. And I can promise you that not one of them was purchased with “me” in mind – they were free promo pens, or permanent markers I bought to label my kids’ belongings, or those gross old plastic chunks of pens that I swear we’ve somehow owned for 15 years which never seem to die or disappear. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBut these babies – these are all for me. These sweet twist ball-points with their pretty gold accents and their perfect size? These are a pen of a lady. And you need some too.
